One Object Many Views

My Fishing Man

For this assignment I choose to photograph my son while he fished.  He is three and a hard subject to shoot as he moves often.  But even with my point and shoot camera I captured a few shots I will cherish.

The above shot is my favorite from this session, it captures my view of him, well this is how I see him when we fish, His back, only his back, he has such a passion for fishing you can't interrupt him from his mission. The lighting was lacking on this day and we seemed to be under a looming cloud the entire time.  The sky line is washed and you can't make out the sky color.  The below shot was similar but he is darker and the sky seems more in true color. I'm finding that I have little to no appreciation for my camera and it's limited functions.

This shot was my least favorite due to the lovely background portalet

Of the three photos I'm posting of this road this is my favorite of the three.  The other two are too far off the road and I like the feel of it better.  However it does have a shallower field of view, and I like the height of the other two.

  1. He's so cute! I really like the third picture down--great shot! I also really like the lighting in your favorite shot of the road, it is very summery and happy.

  2. I agree with the shot that you think is best. As you described him being immersed in his fishing, this comes through in this photograph. It is also a most excellent composition.

Remember, getting down to the eye level of your subject is vitally important for getting stronger photography. As some of your fellow students have done, getting down on the ground in shooting upward at your subject sometimes creates excellent photographs as well.

You had great light and a willing subject and you came up with some awesome photos. Keep up the great work!

    1. I was wishing I had a boat to take a shot looking on to shore....that will come after the new camera! Thanks for the feedback.

  3. My favorite shot is the one where his back to the camera and you captured the lake and the trees. Like you said, it really does show his dedication and also a beautiful, picturesque scene.

    1. One of my favorite places, I have tons of shots at this spot. It's a family favorite. I find most my favorite spots are near a little water and a lot of mountains. Thanks for the feedback
