Filter

This is a photo I took this weekend....What do you think?

On the above photo I applied a sepia filter and I also played around with many more, My biggest challenge on this photo is how to remove the excess glare of his over exposed shirt.  Any suggestions?
This is one I cartooned and I actually like the definition better. Although the lighting in this image still seems off to me.  I did try to play around with it more but I wasn't really pleased with my results.

This is the original....ok, ok I lied the below is the original ;)

yup...it's eye play, angles, and a good ole uprooted tree! the over exposure I could have done with out but don't blame the camera this time...it was a rushed shot and I got so overwhelmed thinking of the out come I over looked my exposure time and well....glare intense glare but overall I love the shot!

  1. This is a really good idea. It takes imagination to be able to see something like this and then it takes determination actually make sure you have the camera to take advantage of this opportunity.

The glare is a different problem. The glares from the overexposure of the white shirt. The problem you're facing is that in order to get any detail in the trees, which are dark, you have to open up the aperture or slow down the shutter speed. This then allows more light in and because the shirt is so bright you will get any detail. One thing you could try is to bracket your shot, which means to take the exact same shot and adjust either the shutter speed or the aperture or the ISO and then merge the photos using Photoshop HDR --> https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/how-to/photoshop-merge-to-hdr.html

  2. I really like the last photo. Sometimes just changing the perspective of the shot throws off the eye enough to notice different details of the photo. Did you try the dodge and burn effect to lighten the shirt? Just wondering if that would work out. Wait!! After looking closer at the shots, the last one is the original and he is laying on the tree trunk. My eyes were tricked! I like the cartoon filter. It makes things come to life in a storybook sense.

  3. Nice job with these photos. Could you try using the color select tool and changing the color of the shirt slightly then using the burn took to darken it? I'm not sure if that would help with the over exposure but it might be worth playing around with

  4. This is really neat! Very whimsical and dream-like. If you want to try and fix the shirt a little you could use the Erode filter under the Generic bracket in GIMP.
